Q:
I have a PRO-28U that works perfectly with your most recent firmware and software drivers. Still after my VISTA ultimate goes to sleep I notice that the next day I can’t see the reader, I must unplug it and plug it in and it is back in business. The problems is that the unit is installed inside so this requires opening the machine. Do you have a work around?
A: To solve the problem please do the following:
(1) Turn on the “USB Legacy” Mode on your motherboard’s Bios
(2) Disable sleep mode from the Power Schemes under the Power Options.
Q: The drive icons for my XM-28U are in black and white, shouldn’t they be in color? I installed the latest version of your drivers that I found on http://www.atechflash.com/drivers-xm28u.html Now everytime I boot up I get a pop-up advising that:
"C:/Windows/System32/UMonit.exe IS NOT A SIGNED DRIVER. This s a security advisement from Vista for drivers that are not digitally...."
A: You can simply solve the problem by telling Vista to allow “UMonit.exe” to run all the time by un-checking the box that referred to that when asked if you would allow UMonit.exe to run. This is due to digitally signature issue therefore you get the annoying popup on your startup.
For your future reference, you can also browse the Microsoft site for WHQL/KMCS/PM/NMJ/Embedded. These issues related to Windows kernel to access to the premium content information.
Q:
My XM-4U internal card reader on my Windows Vista system will not recognize any SD card with a larger than 1 GB capacity. I have downloaded and installed the latest driver for Windows Vista, but there does not seem to be a firmware update on your website.
A: Yes, there is a new firmware that supports the higher capacity SD card (SDHC). Please take a look at this web site: http://atechflash.com/drivers-xm4u.html
Go to 5th row you will find a title called “ Firmware” under firmware please click on PRO-Gear XM-4U 1.06 (updated November 8, 2006)
